The whirlwind of the last few weeks has been incredible to watch. There have been emphatic highs and devastating lows, mistakes made and lessons learned. Every single competitor at the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics will have a story to tell.

We have learned so much from watching these inspirational athletes compete, but there are a few special athletes we hold very dear to our hearts here at Classroom Champions — our very own athlete mentors and ambassadors.

Take a look at their amazing achievements over the last two months.

Andrea Proske has just been crowned as an Olympic Champion in the rowing women’s eight winning GOLD! 🎉🏅

Genevieve Lalonde broke the Canadian National Record to get to the final of the 3000m steeplechase and then smashed it again in the final. ⏱️😱

Scott Tupper competed in his third Olympics for the Canadian men’s Hockey team and his second as the captain. 🏑👏

Alison Beveridge competed in her second Olympics for the Canadian cycling team. She finished 4th in the Track Team Pursuit and 9th in the Omnium. 🚴🏻‍♀️ 🙌

Chuck Aoki not only captained his team to win a silver medal in Wheelchair rugby, but was also chosen as the flag bearer for Team USA.🥈

Lex Gillette added a 5th Paralympic medal to his impressive collection, winning a silver in the Long Jump T11.🥈

Deja Young competed in both the 100m T47 and 200m T47 winning a bronze medal in the 100m (in a very tight finish!) and finishing in 5th in the 200m.🥉

Sophia Herzog added a bronze medal to her growing collection in the 100m breaststroke SB6. She also completed in Women’s 200m medley SM6 coming in 7th in the final.🥉

Shelby Newkirk is a new athlete mentor for Classroom Champions this year and we are excited to welcome her fresh from Tokyo with a new Canadian record in the 100m backstroke S6. 🏊

Nate Riech is another new athlete mentor this year that we are very excited to welcome. He won an impressive gold medal on the track in the Men’s 1500m T3.🥇

We have loved seeing our community enjoying watching the Games and interacting with the athletes. Some of Andrea’s Champs even got a tweet the day after her gold medal.
