It’s been a while. The hugs, the smiles (even though sometimes through a mask) and energy that filled the room was hard to ignore.

Paralympian Brittany Hudak got to visit some of her Classroom Champions across Saskatchewan. Our sponsor Crescent Point Energy provided everything kids needed, from t-shirts to show their CC pride to a BBQ to get in the spirit of the day!

Brittany was able to read to students, talk about the lessons learned over the past year, and connect with kids personally about the challenges and thrills of competing in the 2022 Beijing Paralympic Games.

Our first stop was Shaunavon Public School in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan.

Kids (and teachers!) got the chance to hold Brittany’s Paralympic medals and talk through a class project they had been working on prior to her visit.

She was able to play a game of dodgeball! Brittany showed off her athletic skills while kids were able to show her around their school for an afternoon of fun.

After the activities, kids and the community came together for a BBQ also thanks to Crescent Point Energy!

Next stop was in Estevan, SK at Sacred Heart School!

Kids were able to meet Brittany and get their swag signed! Better Gets Better is what the back of their t-shirts say, but it gets EVEN better with a signature from a Paralympic medalist mentor!

Kids were able to hear from Brittany during an assembly and get inspired by this in-person experience. While virtual mentorship is at the core of what Classroom Champions is, whenever students can meet a mentor in person, the experience is transformative.

We might be finished with Brittany’s in-person events, but the end of year celebrations don’t stop here!

Virtual Celebrations to Come!

Lots of Crescent Point Energy sponsored classrooms have virtual celebration events coming up across Eastend, Consul, Weyburn, and Carlyle featuring Tokyo 2020 Paralympian, World Record Holder and 22x Canadian Record Holder Shelby Newkirk all while she competes during the world championship!

We want to again thank Crescent Point Energy for connecting some of their sponsored classrooms with an unforgettable experience to meet their mentor. Thank you!
