Now is the summer of our discontent
Made inglorious winter by this son of Orange …

Well, here we are. Seven months in and this unpresidented amount of winning and reclaimed national greatness of bygone days is … how do I put this … underwhelming.

This month’s listing focuses on the state of our union; national and individual, interpersonal and intrapersonal, loves and lives lost, astute observations and cryptic prognostications, plus a couple of comic pieces to keep hope alive.

Remember, be it the stars and stripes or the banner of your personal convictions, it’s a grand ol’ flag and forever in peace may it wave. Now bring on the barbecue, baked beans, beer (or lemonade), and kick back with these selections for the month of July.

Love one another.
