An Open Letter to Gitcoin Grant Funders
Dear Gitcoin Grant Funders,
If you’re here, you probably read the message on the Gitcoin grants page for Clayming Space.
Again, I want to thank you from the bottom of my ❤️ for all the contributions you’ve made thus far.
I am writing this letter to you to let you know what is happening from here on and if you or anyone you know would like to participate — you can by joining the discord.
Clayming Space will be moving into being a spacing guild (with the intention of moving toward a DAO as more people believe in the vision — progressive decentralisation). The spacing guild will have to major pathways:
- Building web3 tooling for the space industry. This starts by building the Watchtower protocol — a risk engine to help solve the crowded orbits & space debris problem by crowdsourcing the data science involved in pricing risk of space collisions. This is to hopefully create a space debris market like the ones there are for climate finance and carbon offsetting. I am in touch with some subject matter experts in the sector to assess its viability. For intuition, the best way to think about this protocol is if Toucan protocol (what KlimaDAO is built on top off) and Numerai made a baby. Another project involves using web3 identity for assets of businesses in the space sector that requires Watchtower to be viable.
- Building culture. More specifically web3 culture associated with science fiction, cypher punk and the ideals behind the spacing guild. This will involve digital and physical art, poetry, film, etc. There is already a podcast focused on the social aspects of space. Its available on Audius, Anchor and YouTube. There is also a digital art project and digital poetry project in the pipeline as well.
Foundation Builders
As a thank you and as a way to build the guild, my initial thoughts were to create a digital art NFT collection specifically for you as the foundation builders. What can you do with said NFTs? Well, I’ll let you decide. My thoughts were to initially stake them for the Clayming Space governance tokens in the future and/or any other similar future initiatives. But, again, I’ll let the early foundation builders decide on this matter. If you have any other ideas, I’m down to hear it 😀 — this is still a one person show unfortunately and would love you to join. I’m looking for people interested in taking on culture in any form.
One immediate action is decentralising the podcast. While the invitations are still in the works — prior guests are being invited to guest host the podcast (at least once a year) by getting guests they’d like to be featured as long as its within the notion of space exploration & world building. So, this is also an invitation for you to be podcast hosts. If you want to talk about science fiction, cypher culture, social aspects that could be related to world building (’cause that’s what the guild is trying to do) — you are welcome to come onboard and contribute.
