Honeycomb Joins the Chainlink Reference Data Contract
About
Honeycomb API Marketplace provides per call priced premium API data to smart contract developers over the Chainlink network. We serve this data over a number of Chainlink nodes connected to a large number of external adapters — currently over 300. We only run one of these nodes ourselves to avoid being a centralised point of failure, while the others are provided by officially approved, KYCed, enterprise-grade node operators. Our node, called “honeycomb.market”, is officially being added as an additional node to the ETH/USD price aggregation contract — aka the heartbeat.
Company Structure and Team
Honeycomb is a venture of CLC Group. CLC Group is a blockchain lab, formed over a year ago, focused on looking for solutions to improve the adoption of smart contracts and help improve connections between the different parties building infrastructure for the fourth industrial revolution. CLC Group are a globally distributed team from a wide variety of backgrounds. We formed online from members of the Chainlink community, united by a belief in smart contracts and Chainlink itself.
Why Chainlink?
Smart contracts need the ability to use external data to have real-world relevance. Decentralised oracles allow this without needing to trust a centralised oracle provider. Chainlink brings about decentralisation by allowing the aggregation of multiple APIs into a single deterministic answer that can be consumed by smart contracts, therefore removing the need to trust or worry about tampering from an individual data provider. Chainlink also plans to further improve its network by integrating support for TEEs and Mixicles to enable network users’ access to private or commercially sensitive data sources, even when used on public blockchains.
