As 2016 comes to a close, we are proud of what we’ve achieved in our first year of operations at CleanCapital. Our goal as a company is to revolutionize the way clean energy is financed. Earlier this year, Hank Paulson stated that it will take $90 Trillion over the next 15 years to reach our clean energy goals. Up to this year, access to these terrific cash flowing assets have been limited to big banks and private equity firms and this has handcuffed the growth of the industry.

At the start of this year, we set out to address these issues by creating a marketplace that provides opportunities for investors and access to capital for developers, through a platform that identifies, screens, and manages clean energy projects. Our team is excited, as we are well on our way!

Here are some of our major accomplishments of 2016:

* Year to date as of 11/21/16

The projects in our first solar portfolio have produced 9,536 MWh of clean energy since July 2016. This was a first-of-its-kind opportunity backed by John Hancock Life Insurance Company that allowed for everyday investors to participate in the clean energy revolution.

* Year to date as of 11/21/16

Our investors have kept 7,388 tons of CO2 out of the atmosphere by funding solar projects. Climate change is a threat multiplier, that’s why CleanCapital is accelerating clean energy through simpler finance.

The 15 projects we’ve funded in seven states that make up our first investment opportunity have a collective value of $21 million. It is projected that by 2030, 40% of the world’s energy will come from clean energy, requiring $90 trillion to fund this endeavor over the next 15 years.

Before now, clean energy finance was limited to institutional investors, large banks, private equity firms, and tax equity investors. CleanCapital has expanded the market by allowing more people to have access to these lucrative investments. The average online investment via our “Invest Now!” button was $87,000 this year.

CleanCapital already has over $100 million in operating distributed generation solar projects in our pipeline for future investments. We’re excited to share these investments with you in 2017!

We continue to educate potential investors on the benefits of solar investments. After beating 1,000 companies and winning the TheNextWeb pitch competition, we’ll have the opportunity to reach over 10 million new investors in the new year.

We could not have done all this without your support and we’re excited for a successful 2017. We’ll open our next offering in early February 2017. We expect the offering to be fully subscribed, so sign up today for the waitlist and we’ll notify you when it’s available.
