Elle MacPherson Swears By This Simple, One-Step Health Secret
Supermodel Elle MacPherson may have spent much of her career known as “The Body,” but to her, wellness begins on the inside. “The most important thing to me is how I feel,” she told Clean Plates. “I’ve found if my body is getting the nutrients it needs, it shows on the outside. This is why I make the Super Elixir Alkalising Greens a daily ritual.”
MacPherson takes self-care seriously. She gets seven hours of sleep a night (aided by aromatherapy and the Sleep Welle Calming Mist), drinks three liters of water a day, and regularly heads outdoors for hikes, runs, and bike rides.
“I know within myself that I feel my best when I am fit and exercising regularly,” she says, noting that when she works out, “I am inclined to eat better and I sleep better.”
Another secret to keeping herself looking and feeling amazing at the start of each season or before a photo shoot: A short cleanse, during which she goes vegan. “It helps flush out my system,” she said. In the summer that means eating raw foods, but in the cooler seasons she likes warming recipes, too. Whether you’re cleansing or just want to start your day like a supermodel, try her breakfast smoothie bowl recipe, below.
Nutrition is also an important part of MacPherson’s regimen. For her, what works best is an alkaline diet that’s free of red meat, wheat, dairy, sugar, and processed food. Proponents of the alkaline diet say it reduces acid in the gut, which can cause inflammation and weight gain as well as making you susceptible to fatigue, headache, insomnia, and bloating. They also say it can help slow the aging process.
But even the most dedicated follower of an alkaline diet, like MacPherson, can use a boost.
“Despite living a healthy lifestyle and taking various different synthetic vitamins, I lacked energy and didn’t feel 100 percent,” she said. “Modern life, processed food and everyday incidental toxic overload meant I needed to supplement my natural diet, and I think a lot of people feel the same way.”
Do. We. Ever.
Her new secret, pictured above: Welleco’s Super Elixir Alkalising Greens. According to the company (MacPherson is a co-founder), two teaspoons, taken daily in coconut water or water, provides 45 premium cold-pressed bio-live ingredients in a single multivitamin, including Chinese herbs, shiitake and maitake mushrooms, aloe vera, nutrient-rich kelp, anti-inflammatory and immunity-boosting turmeric, tissue-repairing silica from horsetail, and collagen and dandelion, which may help remove toxins from the liver. Developed by one of the world’s renowned doctors in functional nutrition, it’s all organic and high-potency.
“The most important lesson I’ve learned about health is that an alkaline body is a healthier body,” MacPherson said. “Since I’ve been taking my Super Elixir Alkalising Greens, my workouts are strong, I’ve lost weight, my moods are balanced, I don’t have sugar cravings and I feel on top of my game.”
