Technology change can be complicated. This is especially true for solutions that don’t exist yet or require a whole-system or multi-vendor approach. Can you shorten your development timelines and lower costs by using technology that may be emerging in a different country?

How do you sort through and assess solution providers when you may not have a complete picture of what the solution may be? What if you are looking for an industrial applications or solution that must fit into a sustainability goal?

Cleantech Innovation in Canada

Canada has cleantech solutions that are ready to go. Canada is ranked 4th globally on the Cleantech Innovation and 2nd on Early Startup Entrepreneurship in Cleantech. It is a signatory of the Paris Accord, deeply committed to developing a cleantech centred economy, and has an international trade policy framework that prioritizes free and open trade.

But it is also a vast country with a complex network of innovation centres, universities, large industries and emerging small businesses. Canada has a cleantech ecosystem that covers an extensive list of sectors — mining, forestry, watertech, agrifood tech, carbon capture/utilization, green building, waste to energy, biofuels, wind, solar, geothermal, wave, electrification and energy storage.

A Proven Process

The Canada Cleantech Alliance is a cross-Canada network consisting of over 20 regional cleantech related organizations. Collectively, these organizations form an energized ecosystem of Canadian Cleantech talent and opportunities, and represent close to 100 research institutions and universities and over 2,200 cleantech innovators and emerging technology businesses.

The Canada Cleantech Connect Challenge program, managed by Foresight Cleantech Accelerator, provides a simple, proven process to guide you through those complexities and find the solutions and source the technology you need. The program is open to any company outside of Canada.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Apply online here.

2. We meet with you to assess and refine your challenge.

3. We issue a call for solutions to our networks.

4. You choose a shortlist from the proposed solutions.

5. The shortlisted companies present to your team.

The Outcome & Your Contribution

The goal and expected outcome of this process is simple — a solution to your challenge that fits your criteria, and is immediately ‘in the field’ actionable. It may be that a single provider is able to provide a comprehensive solution, or it may be one or more companies collaborate to provide the solution.

You will receive a complete project report with a list of qualified, relevant technologies and companies. Over 50 percent of challenges result in ongoing partnerships.

Your contribution is your time and effort in meeting with us to develop the challenge statement and presentation, and to evaluate, engage with and discuss the finalists.

Applications are open until February 29th. Submit your application today!

This project is funded by Global Affairs and Export Development Canada.
