Every now & then, life presents us with diverse hurdles in our way.

And avoiding them often seems like the easier path, doesn’t it?

But if we close our eyes to them, we are certainly going to trip & fall. Thus, it is necessary to address them to continue walking on the road to success.

Before we jump into it, let’s quickly explore why and how we often evade confronting our challenges.

Below are some ways we tend to do that:

Denial: The first & foremost thing we do after encountering a problem is refusing to acknowledge its existence or downplaying its significance.

Procrastination: We try to delay the task even after knowing how urgent it is to act upon it.

Distraction: We shift our thinking to some other task so that our brain forgets about it by engaging in activities such as watching TV, playing games, or browsing the internet.

Overworking: Another similar method is immersing ourselves in work to avoid thinking about personal problems.

Blaming Others: We often try to link our present situation to the past & shift our responsibility to others instead of confronting our role in it.

Avoidance Behavior: If our problem is specifically related to people or a place, we physically avoid them.

Social Withdrawal: If our problem is known to individuals, we even avoid social interactions to prevent facing questions or discussions about it.

Extreme Planning: We often over-plan or overthink solutions without taking action, which leads to a cycle of inaction.

Daydreaming: Many times, we escape into fantasies or imagine different scenarios to avoid dealing with reality.

Dependence: Some people even use alcohol, drugs, or other substances to numb feelings and avoid dealing with issues.

We often seek temporary happiness or satisfaction instead of addressing the problem directly and finding lasting solutions.

However, once we face it, we won’t need to seek illusory happiness anymore.

So, I’ve mentioned my methods of dealing with a problem:

Self-awareness & Acceptance: Identifying triggers, acknowledging the problem & finding solutions for it. You can take the help of a book, the internet, professionals such as a doctor, lawyer or therapist or share your thoughts with your close ones depending upon the situation.

Keeping Track: This is one of the most important things to do. You must keep track of your actions by maintaining a journal for self-reflection. It will help you not to go astray in your journey.

Practice Mindfulness: It means being fully present in the moment. You can start with basic techniques like focusing on your breath, doing body scan meditation, and engaging in mindful observation. Then, gradually incorporate mindfulness into daily activities such as eating, walking, and listening & don’t forget to be patient and kind to yourself, as mindfulness is about observing without judgment.

If your mind wanders or you miss a day or two of practice, gently bring your focus back and start again.

Practical Strategies: You need to set small, achievable goals as it will make you initiate tasks, manage time effectively, give a sense of satisfaction upon their fulfillment, & make you move forward on the path.

Forget Results: Embarking on this journey, don’t focus on immediate results. You may get it in some cases, but expecting quick outcomes can make you want to quit if it’s a long journey. Thus, enjoy the experience and let the results naturally unfold.

Adopting these strategies will surely help you tackle a problem.

Thank You!
