What are Mental Issues?

Mental health conditions are a group of problems

that affects a person’s thinking, feeling, and/or mood.

The emotional and physical symptoms

can interfere with a person’s life.

There are many different types of mental

illnesses as well as causes for them.

1. Anxiety — Fear of the Unknown

Anxiety is a group of feelings and responses that are related to an anticipated event. Anxiety often includes physical symptoms, like shaking, difficulty breathing, increased heart rate, and changes in appetite.

A person with anxiety can feel unsafe in

certain situations or places that others

might not be associated with an anxiety attack.

People who experience these symptoms usually don’t enjoy them and will try to avoid the source of their anxiety (or triggers) for this reason.

2. Stress — Anxiety about Work or Relationships

Stress is an unpleasant emotional response to stimuli, such as pressures or demand. It can be mild or severe; and it can affect one’s mental health, physical condition, and social interactions.

Some people experience stress when they are under pressure to complete tasks on time. Others may feel stressed because of work-related problems, like heavy workloads.

Some people may feel anxious about

not being able to do things right.

3. Anxiousness — General Nervousness or Worrying

Anxiousness is an umbrella term for a group of mental disorders.

The most common disorder is Generalized Anxiety Disorder, which is characterized by a constant sense of worry and fear.

Types of Anxiety Disorders:

Anxiety disorders can vary from person to person depending on the severity of the symptoms. These include generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress syndrome and social phobia.

Final Thoughts: Ways to Reduce Mental Issues:

A lot of mental health issues are caused by stress.

It is Important to Lower the Level of Stress in One’s Life.

Meditation and mindfulness are both

effective ways to reduce stress.

They have been proven to have a calming effect on the body and mind as well as strengthening people’s ability to combat all types of mental illness.

There are many other ways that you can reduce your

levels of stress as well — some more practical than others!

For example, positive self-talk is one way that has shown to be effective in lowering levels of anxiety and depression.

Another way is through breathing exercises, which can also help relieve tension in the body at the same time.
