When it comes to psychotherapy, most people are either for or against it. On the one hand, there are people who swear by therapy. But, on the other hand, we have people who swear that therapy is nothing more than a waste of time and money.

Stop. You’re both right!

Yes, therapy can be a vital element to anyone’s treatment plan. No matter if you have been diagnosed with ADHD, schizophrenia, general depression, or simply want to use therapy as a tool to improve your life, having a good, qualified therapist to help you on your journey can be life-changing.

However, if you are not prepared to actually do the work, you are only wasting your time. Therapy alone is not enough to “fix” anyone. You have to be willing to change your entire lifestyle. This may include anything from journaling your thoughts each night to taking medication at the same time each day. No matter what it is, you have to be dedicated to it until you get your intended results. And while it may sound easy when you agree to it, developing new habits is something that takes serious determination and discipline.
