Why Greeting the Customers At The Door Will Help Your Business Grow
Sam Walton’s idea of greeting the customers at the door was a boon for Walmart
Walmart’s founder Sam Walton had a habit of visiting his stores often. He also didn’t miss a chance to visit his competitors’ stores. He enjoyed those visits.
Visiting his stores gave him the chance to see for himself how they were doing. Visiting his competitors’ stores gave him ideas about what they were doing better and how he could implement them all in Walmart.
This story is from one of Sam Walton’s such visits. One day while entering one of his stores, an old person greeted Walton at the door. He greeted Walton with a smile and asked Walton to let him know if he needed anything.
That person didn’t know back then he was talking to Sam Walton, the chairman of Walmart.
It impressed Walton. He asked the store manager about it. What the manager then told him blew Walton’s mind.
When you greet a customer at the door with a smile on your face and ask him to tell you if you could help him anyway, the customer feels welcome. Seeing someone greeting you with a simple already brightens your day. It puts you at ease.
