The idea of this EPIC (Eminence, Personal, Ideas, Career) template is to bring your focus on to the topics that are importance to you and helps you progressing at your career and life. This is not a to-do list, but a visible list of your priorities at a particular period of time. The template also helps you with multi-dimensional growth, out side your work.

You can use the EPIC template for any time period. E.g. for a week, month, quarter or a year. Ideally it is good to plan the priorities for a quarter at the start of a quarter, and then plan week by week as you progress.

Do’s and Don’ts

It’s okay if you are not able to focus on all of them with same intensity in a particular week or period of time.

You can play around the areas based on your interests. For example, for few weeks you may focus more on career work due to an important delivery, and next two weeks you may focus on eminence in the quiet period. Your family time can always be a priority.

Don’t think always Career work is a top priority as a professional. At times personal focus can be a priority while continuing business as usual with your work.

You can include activities that bring energy, fulfilment and happiness to you into IDEAS/ SIDE PROJECTS. It can also include innovative ideas you want to experiment before betting fully onto it.

Don’t try to push hard to excel in all 4 areas at the same time. If you can excel in 2 areas, by going okay on other 2 is a decent job.

Don’t just look at week’s time for results. Look at a bit longer horizon like a quarter or more to see visible progress.

I have been using the template for couple of years, and the results have been very promising. It allowed me to discover more about myself, and brought needed discipline to navigate modern workplace and lifestyle challenges.

I will be happy to know your feedback. Please leave your comments in the comments section.
