Please tell us about Bastion Trading and its history
Bastion Trading was founded in 2014, initially trading equities by a group of seasoned derivative traders and quantitative strategists with decades of experience from global investment banks.
In 2017 Bastion transitioned to trading cryptocurrency as it discovered significant discrepancies in prices between crypto exchanges with the underlying financial markets still in their nascent stage.
Our arbitrage strategies have been practiced and proven over many years in the crypto market. We have weathered through many cycles and have generated solid returns every month.
Currently, Bastion’s trading book value is US$250mn+, with over 50 employees located in our Hong Kong (Headquarter), Singapore, Tokyo and Portugal offices.
What is Bastion’s trading strategy?
Bastion deploys a wide range of Trading Strategies, primarily:
§ CeFi — Market Neutral Arbitrage and Market Making
§ DeFi — Yield Farming/Liquidity Provision
§ Volatility Arbitrage
§ Event-Driven Dislocations
Why does Bastion want to borrow capital right now?
Bastion acts as a liquidity provider to the crypto market on both CeFi and DeFi platforms.
Particularly during these extremely turmoil market conditions, when liquidity is scarce, the extra capital will be deployed to provide increased volume, tighter spreads, and market depth.
Helping rebuild the crypto ecosystem by supporting increased trading activity.
Why is Bastion Trading interested in borrowing from the Clearpool protocol compared to other DeFi or CeFi options?
Clearpool offers a very unique product within the DeFi lending market, with flexible terms, competitive rates, and transparent credit scores, among other attractive features. Their team has an in-depth understanding of the borrowing/lending market and is extremely focused on building products and businesses to support the crypto ecosystem.
We believe it’s important to form meaningful partnerships and support teams/protocols like these that benefit the industry and additionally support their journey to success.
What size does Bastion Trading typically borrow and seek to borrow on Clearpool?
Bastion is seeking to initially borrow US$10m as we look to build and establish a long-term relationship with Clearpool.
Why should our community lend to Bastion Trading?
Bastion is well respected in the cryptocurrency community and has well-established relationships with exchanges, lending platforms, DAOs, and social media channels such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Telegram, etc.
Our team comes from global tier 1 investment banks and has decades of experience in risk management and trading. We are also one of the first trading platforms in the crypto space and have been through multiple crypto winters. As such, we understand the risk and volatility of the crypto markets and carefully monitor the appropriate usage of leverage and exposures to limit liquidation events and to ensure that our balance sheet and your money are protected.
