Project update 23 August

Over the last two weeks we have undertaken some crucial repair work to the concrete supporting structure. While not large in scale, these repairs were to highly sensitive sections of the bridge which made it necessary to suspend access to the emergency vehicle lane. Our project team and contractors have liaised with the emergency services throughout the planning and delivery of the repairs to mitigate any impact on service response. We are pleased to say that these repairs have now been completed as planned and the bridge is once again passable to emergency vehicles and cyclists.

There are still significant concrete repairs to be undertaken and we are working with the contractor to assess options. Our next significant event will be for the waterproofing and resurfacing of the refurbished bridge deck. This is expected to start on 13 Sept, and will need another temporary closure of the emergency lane, for which the emergency services are once again prepared.
