Project update 23 July

In the last week we carried out a thorough inspection of the concrete trusses and the process of breaking out the damaged areas is progressing. Unfortunately, the greater access provided by the scaffold has shown that the extent of the concrete damage is worse than was identified in the roped access survey in 2020. Our project team are working with the contractor to maintain our original programme, but there remains a risk that once the damaged concrete is removed, defective reinforcing bars are found.
On top of the bridge, we are continuing work to the west side of the deck removing the existing bedding and waterproofing. Next week we will progress to the east side of the bridge where we will remove the heritage kerbs.
