Make something people want.
There is not much to say about us. We’re a crazy couple who writes about productivity and creates simple software. We love what we do and how we do it.
We want to share our story with the outside world. We think we can help many people become more successful, more productive, and happier in their lives. But primarily, we wrote this book for ourselves. We’ve learned many of the things described in this book the hard way.
Over the course of a couple of months, we create a simple to-do app called Clever.do. Yes, we know — there are tons of different to-do apps on the market, and no one needs another one. But again, we built this app for ourselves. And we’re damn proud of it! We believe that until you’ve solved your own problems, you cannot even begin to teach others how to solve theirs. So that’s what we did — we solved our own problems, and now we want to share what we’ve learned with you.
The very best startup ideas tend to have three things in common: they’re something the founders themselves want, that they themselves can build, and that few others realize are worth doing. Microsoft, Apple, Yahoo, Google, and Facebook all began this way. ― Paul Graham (from How to Get Startup Ideas)
