A Great Multipurpose Dough

What is a meal that everyone loves? Pizza! It isn’t very cost-efficient to buy pizza whenever you are craving a good slice. Homemade pizza can be just as delicious and so much fun to make! This dough can be used for so many other dinners besides pizza, such as breadsticks, garlic knots, calzones, cinnamon rolls, the list is endless!

Once you start making this pizza dough, you can’t help but always go back to it. Whether you need to make a meal on the fly or you want the whole family to join in on the fun of making dinner! Make this pizza dough your own!

Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups all-purpose flour/bread flour (you may need up to ½ cup more)
  • 1 teaspoon Instant Yeast
  • 1 Cup Warm Water
  • 2 teaspoons Sugar
  • ½ teaspoon Salt (optional)
  • 2 Tablespoons Oil (I like olive oil) + 1 Tablespoon for greasing the bowl

Preparation:

  • In a smaller-sized bowl, mix warm water and sugar. Sprinkle in yeast and let sit for 5 minutes or until the yeast has foamed.
  • In the bowl of a stand mixer or medium-sized bowl, mix flour and salt (if using).
  • Make a well (a hole) in the flour.
  • Add yeast mixture and oil into the well in the flour.
  • Mix with a spatula until a dough forms then hand mix on a lightly floured surface for around 8–10 minutes. If using a stand mixer, with a dough hook attachment, set on low speed until dough forms. Once the dough has formed, mix on medium speed for about 8–10 minutes. The dough should be soft and not too sticky to the touch. Add in more flour if the dough is too sticky.
  • Lightly oil bowl (around 1 Tablespoon) and cover dough for around 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Preheat oven to 450˚F–500˚F (235˚C-260˚C). (I like to bake mine at a high temperature on a pizza stone.) Put on desired toppings.
  • Bake until the cheese is melted and the crust is brown.
  • Enjoy!

This dough should make around two medium-sized pizzas.

I hope you have a wonderful time making the dough and creating new memories together in the kitchen!
