Only You Can Change You

A hard truth about life is that only you can change you.

You can’t change others. They can’t change you.

Except you can change and you can influence change.

Having a greater income and wealth is not going to change who you are.

If you are bad at managing money. No matter how much you have you’ll manage it badly until you change your habits. If you choose to learn how to use your money better you will change.

Money Doesn’t Change You. It Just Amplifies Who You Are Already.

Hi, I’m Rebecca and this is my publication CliffView Life. I am going to be dissecting all 45 lessons in a YouTube video by Dan Martell: I’m 45. If you’re in your 20s or 30s, watch this.

Dan Martell is a successful entrepreneur. He is now dedicated to teaching others so they can achieve their dreams just as he has — if they are willing to put in the work. In this video, he shares and briefly explains 45 lessons he found on his way to the success he has today.

Why? Why am I going to go through every single one of the 45 lessons Dan shares? So I can learn and pass on what I have learned to you.

You have to say yes so you can learn what works for you and doesn’t work. You have to say yes so you can challenge yourself.

Money is a Tool Not the Solution

It is easy to say that when I get that raise the financial issues in my life will become better

There’s two problems with that.

Money just amplifies who you are.

Dan Martell’s key message with this lesson is that money just amplifies who you are. As he explains in his video. If you are a jerk you will continue to be a jerk with more money. If you are a generous person you’ll continue to be generous with more money.

If you want to create change in this world and you have the finances to make an impact. Then you need to change who you are. Become a leader and teacher like Dan Martell has. So you can influence others to find their way to their financial freedom and to their success.

Dan Martell (and others) could easily choose not teach or help others. And keep their lessons to themselves. While the rest of us struggle.

Instead Dan has chosen to use his influence and success to inspire others to change their lives. He (nor anyone else) can make people change. People have to choose to change. They have to be inspired by him to fight and keep fighting through their obstacles to achieve their success.

To achieve success you have to be willing to fight for it. Part of fighting for your dreams means you have to be willing to learn, willing to move outside of your comfort zone, and willing to stand back up after every failure. You have to be willing to change by doing the work required for the change to happen.

Lifestyle Creep

More money doesn’t mean your problems will disappear.

It does mean that it might become easier to pay for things. It means you can buy a more reliable car. It means you can pay off debt. It means you can find a better place to live. It means you might not have to shop around to find the best deal. Instead you can choose the most convenient option for you right now.

With more income there is a significant chance your lifestyle can creep into a more expensive lifestyle. You can now afford to eat at expensive restaurants more often but can you still pay off the debt you had before?

Are you going to start buying items that you don’t really need just because you can? I’m not saying you should not reward yourself and buy nicer things. I’m saying you should always be watching where your money is going and is ask yourself if enough of your money is going towards future you.

Is more clothing going to add value to your life. Or is investing into technology, equipment, and learning more skills going to add more value.

Money is a Tool. Not the Answer.

Money is a tool.

A tool you can use to solve your problems. You can buy services that help you add value and time to your life. You can buy education so you can improve your life. You can invest into future you. You can buy essentials for today (food, clothing, shelter).

Money is not going to change you.

You choose who you are and how you showup.

If you want others to change, you have to inspire them.

Dress like you mean it. Show up for yourself. Challenge yourself to new things.

Be the change you wish to see in to see in the world. ~Gandhi

By the way, even though I qualify for payments on my stories I have decided to stop. I want to help those who are like me. Who are on the starting line and need someone to show them it is possible. I want them to have access to stories that can inspire them to keep going. If you are able and wish to support me, you can do so through buymeacoffee.com/cliffviewlife. Thank you. (Yes, I drink coffee!)
