Welcome to Part Three of our Americas’ Wars Series! I will be providing a brief overview of all the wars that occurred in the Americas. Get ready to take in some interesting history!

During the 19th century, a period of Westward Expansion saw people from America travel to unpopulated areas between the Mississippi River and the Pacific Ocean. With land being made available at cheap prices, many decided to take advantage and journey west.

A surge of families, who had taken enslaved people with them, made their way to Texas. This was further exacerbated by the diverging opinions on political ideals between settlers from America and those from Mexico City. This sparked a nationwide Texas Independence Movement in response to the actions of the government.

The people of Texas had a wish to be part of the United States, knowing that it would likely be accepted as a slave state and have more autonomy. To this day, we still discuss the events surrounding Texas and other territories becoming independent states.
