Turn on your Twitter alerts — we have a new governor in town! The newly inaugurated Governor Sisolak recently gave the State of the State address with an optimistic vision for Nevada.

Naturally, we had a few thoughts. Join us for our takeaways.

Fostering a strong tech community.

With his forward thinking agenda, it is no surprise that Governor Sisolak is a strong supporter of the growing tech industry in Northern Nevada. With announcement of a newly-created bipartisan tech caucus, in combination with other tax incentives. As prospective tech companies, Tesla and Google look to establish their home in Northern Nevada. We must encourage continued collaboration and engagement with the tech community to continue to make this state appealing for all parties.

As an advocate for collaborative tech solutions with vast experience in the startup and blockchain industries, Clift & Co. will continue to advise, as well as educate how our government officials can continue to make this space friendly for not only tech companies, but also the community as a whole.

The fourth Industrial revolution

Governor Sisolak made quite the statement towards blockchain technology and the state of Nevada at the event. Claiming the next industrial revolution is currently taking place in the blockchain sector — we’ll look to see what sort of new endeavors are on their way.

“[Nevada will be…] Ground zero for the fourth industrial revolution that will come with blockchain technology”

This could prove to be an interesting legislative session, with Blockchains LLC. recently releasing a Legal Treatise on how the blockchain technology should be used. This, in combination with their purchase of a plot of land in Storey County could be something to keep an eye on as we move into this legislative session. Clift & Co. is dedicated to elevate the latest technologies through collaboration to help the community as a whole

Part of this mission includes helping businesses manage value exchange efficiently and ethically. As one of the leaders in the blockchain industry, Nevada-based Filament aims to continue to add new value to existing business.

Developing a workforce

Part of Sisolak’s campaign platform, and subsequently part of his speech was an emphasis on increasing funding for education, specifically STEM education. We’re thankful that Sisolak is taking Governor Sandoval’s education initiatives seriously — like the Nevada Ready 21 Program.

The Nevada Ready 21 Program is a “statewide initiative that provides students with an equitable, technology-rich education that supports high standards, an engaging learning environment, and the development of the 21st century skills students will need to prosper while fueling the economic growth of the state.” We must continue to support and foster the for the Nevada Ready 21 Program so that we can further develop our community and eventually a workforce.

“the abundance of green collar jobs…”

The future is clean energy

Governor Sisolak is quite eager to advance clean energy initiatives in Nevada, and we’re excited to see him eager to move those needles forward. Not only does a movement toward clean energy benefit our environment, but as Governor Sisolak stated, it is desirable for “the abundance of green collar jobs it can create right now.”

The recently released “Electrifying Nevadas 21st Century Transportation System” report goes deep into detail on just how we can continue to electrify large sects of Nevada’s transportation system.

Don’t let us hold you back

Additional plans Sisolak holds for the state of Nevada include improvements to opportunities for incarcerated persons, the appointment of a cannabis compliance board, and furthering affordable health care for all Nevadans. All things that we can get behind as we elevate the causes, people, and technologies that better our community. We look forward to collaborating with the changemakers and leaders who also want to make that difference.

If State of the State address is any indicator of the forthcoming progress in Nevada, we are cautiously optimistic to what the next four years have in store.
