Dear President Trump,

We are doctors, nurses, and healthcare providers and we are sounding an alarm on climate change and pollution.

We know that climate change and pollution are already making our patients sick and are on pace to get much worse in the future.

We know that our use of dirty fuels contributes to these problems and that America has the power to fight these health threats.

The air we breathe and the changing climate have important health consequences. Climate change and dirty air can worsen all of these diseases: COPD, heart attacks, stroke, cancer, infections, heat stroke, depression, asthma and injury and death from severe weather events. Our lungs, our hearts, and our brains — our very lives — can all be protected if we take the necessary steps.

President Trump please help our patients, their families and communities to be healthy now and into the future:

1. Lead the international effort to curb pollution and fight climate change by helping American businesses produce clean energy right here at home.

2. Build communities that are healthy and resilient, with secure food systems and transportation infrastructure that supports fuel-efficient cars as well as rapid transit, walking, and biking.

By recognizing and acting to mitigate climate change and pollution, we can grow our economy, protect the health of all Americans, and safeguard our quality of life for current and future generations.
