We hear you on the stage telling us we failed, saying “How dare you”, characterizing our efforts as “blah blah blah”. I could tell you it isn’t easy, the resistance is strong, but you wouldn’t believe me. Your life is at stake. From your perspective, we lived our lives by spending yours. In defense, I’ll only say…

Humans are the Problem

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) is 1,414 pages of bible-thin paper stained black with brain maladies that keep us from performing optimally in our daily lives.

Even without mental illness, people have flaws, procrastinations, moments of weakness. We don’t file our taxes on time, or at all. We don’t do work we are paid to do. Don’t get regular vehicle maintenance. Don’t fill out warranty cards or mail them back. Don’t remember to turn off the light. Don’t save for retirement, or even the end of the month. People fail at the simplest things on a daily basis. You expect them to save the world?
