Climate Change Makeover: Expanding Our Conscious Horizons
The struggle of climate change is a struggle with our own heart.
In 2008, Stephen Hawking wrote, “As we stand on the brink of […] a period of unprecedented climate change, scientists have a special responsibility, once again, to inform the public and to advise leaders about the perils that humanity faces.”¹
The message of a whole slew of climate scientists is pretty straightforward: we must protect our only natural living environment.
That makes sense, since I prefer to inhale unpolluted air and consume uncontaminated eatables. And I dare to assume that this equally holds for both my 7.8 billion fellow human beings and the entire animal kingdom — this is actually a false claim, if we also include the amoeba-sized lorificerans living within the Mediterranean Sea floor who can do without oxygen throughout their entire life.
But all wittiness aside, why is it so hard for us humans to collectively follow up on a message that holds a rather obvious truth?
Not So Common Common Sense
Apparently, common sense does not work in a linear fashion. We are humans, and we are a work in progress. Not every single one of the 7.8 billion human earthlings lives in perfect…
