How Species Continuously Respond to Climate Change

Species biological and physiological needs are the primary source for insight. All species in the evolutionary spectrum require developing their cycles in certain conditions to be successful. Species rely on a climatic optimum environment that supports their life cycle. These need to provide natural resources and prove to be a niche for thriving. When the climate window changes below its optimal (temperature, precipitation, humidity), species respond.

Species responses are diverse due to species location (latitude, longitude), species traits, and ecological requirements. In the evolution spectrum, species will respond to climate change based on:

  • tolerance for differences in their optimum climatic environment
  • changes on resources available
  • ability to adapt to new conditions

It’s vital to understand these responses. We can predict which species can go extinct or adapt in the future. We can mitigate extinctions and uncover new relations for species adaptability. Adaptive changes are already happening. Some species are unable to complete this adaptation and loss is inevitable. Corals, amphibians, and birds are the most affected groups…
