Nuclear wars, pandemics, and terrorism are all major threats to our society; however, we as humans do not have the power to cease such impacts from happening. Although these may be severe impacts to our society there is a deeper, immeasurable, detrimental global threat that is a point often overlooked and that is the impact of climate change. Climate change is a phenomenon that has been prevalent in the past and present, and soon to be future if no action is being taken towards discontinuation. Its impacts will get worse and we all suffer the consequences.

As human beings, we are vulnerable to confusing the unprecedented with the improbable. In our everyday experience, if something has never happened before, we are generally safe in assuming it is not going to happen in the future, but the exceptions can kill you and climate change is one of those exceptions. — Al Gore
