Accelerating a Youth-Led Energy Transition in Nigeria with SRSG Damilola Ogunbiyi

The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All (SRSG) Ms Damilola Ogunbiyi on a Youth Roundtable discussion on Energy and Climate with selected youths at the UN Information Centre Lagos with over one hundred youths joining online to discuss ’Accelerating a youth-led energy transition in Nigeria’

Ms Damilola Ogunbiyi ‘s engagement with young change-makers and activists is to hear what the youths are doing in building sustainable energy access in their communities and the expectations for the major energy and climate events coming up in the United States HLDE/COP26 which will bridge the gap between energy and climate discussions and allow youth to be active stakeholders that shape national policy and global action plans to achieve Agenda 2030 and reach NetZero by 2050.

The youth at the meeting make commitment toward a sustainable energy access and what they want to do in supporting the office of the SRSG Damilola Ogunbiyi

I am looking forward to push for more visibility for more young people dedicating time and energy for sustainable energy access across Nigeria and this will help the SRSG office to showcase best case practices for energy transition. — Olumide Idowu

I want to create evidence-based and impact-focused climate imagery to further educate people on the need to take climate action — ADEBO MAYOWA

Research, field test, and deploy a sustainable clean cooking solution (produced from waste) that eliminates the need for fossil-based cooking fuels without major process modification with the possibility of global adaptation. — Itohan EGBDEION

As an Engineer, I would continue to develop practical innovative solutions that mitigate the biggest problems we are facing in the critical sectors of the Nigerian economy, such as the agricultural sector and the power sector. — Adekoyejo Kuye
