With events dating back to 1909, March 8th has been a historic day for women throughout the decades. Today, we recognise it as International Women’s Day, a day celebrated annually in honour of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

Here at Clipchamp, we’re on a mission to democratize access to video storytelling for all who have a story to tell. We’re building a platform that reaches every corner of the world and have our own international team. So for March 8th 2020, we’re taking this moment to highlight the dynamic women we are lucky to surround ourselves with each and every day. We couldn’t think of a better way to do so than to share the stories from each of our female clipchampions detailing their proudest career moments to date.

Anna Ji — Head of Product & Growth

“Seeing someone I manage, mentor a new team member. She worked hard on her own and took the small amount of advice I was able to provide to develop skills in data and analytics, which a year prior she admitted was her blind spot. She became proficient enough that she was able to provide others guidance.

What made me really proud, is that not only did she develop valuable skills, she was also more than happy to share her knowledge with someone else.”

Jewel Horton — Copywriter

“The first time I had my writing published and was actually paid for it. A lot of writers get caught in the loop of freelancing with an emphasis on “free”. It’s nice to realise your skills have a monetary worth that matches their personal meaning to you.”

Trish Khoo — Engineering Manager

“When I was promoted to manager at Google. Having my work recognised by so many of my peers and managers was a big moment for me. I was also awarded the highest possible performance rating which is only given to a handful of employees, so it really was a very validating experience and did wonders for my imposter syndrome”

Ellen Mackenzie — Administrative Business Partner

“I’ve had some pretty exciting challenges in my career, but the moment that stands out to me was a month after coming back from maternity leave.

I was relatively new to motherhood, and not sleeping many hours during the night, and I ended up needing to work remotely from Sydney. So as daunted as I was for this remote/solo parenting gig, I packed up my seven-month-old baby and spent a very intense three weeks juggling baby/remote working life on my own.

On my flight home, I reflected on what had just happened and was so proud that I had successfully blended mum life and working life, and it has been a big part of maintaining that balance to this day.”

Kaitlyn Eggersdorff — Community Manager

It was super early in my career, my first *real* job to be exact. I had a customer who had recently started their own business selling a very niche product. By working super close with them and tackling their marketing and advertising challenges, they were able to close a deal on their first high ticket product. Seeing the impact that my work had on their life and business made me super proud and has kept me motivated in my field ever since.”

Rhea Jain — Technical Recruiter

“It had to be while I was working for a start-up in the Bay Area. With the help of a few engineers, I created a highly successful university recruiting program, competing against brand name, enterprise companies to attract students from top schools. The best part was seeing the initial wave of students go back to campus as ambassadors, having had a really impactful experience. And I had so much fun along the way!”

Anastasia Passaris — Growth Marketer

“Becoming a Growth Marketer. I started my career as a content creator and was given the opportunity to grow at Clipchamp and enter into my now current role — the Growth Marketer for one of our teams. It required a whole lot of learning, from data science and analytics to design and even coding. I now get to experiment with our product and make decisions that will impact our millions of users every day. I’m also pretty proud to see how far Clipchamp has come, being there from the very beginning and seeing the company and product grow to what it is today.”

Dewi Wahyuni — Product Manager

“I was made a project lead for a major integration project when I was 3 months into my developer role. The trust and encouragement from my leader really boosted my confidence and along the way, I learnt so much about team and project management.”

Julia Poloai — Head of Culture & Talent

“The moment a former colleague rang me 2 years after I had moved to another company to say ‘thank you for introducing me to my career 5 years ago’. She had the right skills and background and I knew she’d be an incredible addition to the team. She just didn’t know it then because she was managing people in a completely different industry tackling completely different problems.

Helping professionals uncover new opportunities, removing glass ceilings, and developing others’ skills at each level of organisations is the most rewarding part of why I love what I do. The days those individuals find me again months or years later to say thank you — is when I can smile to myself knowing ‘I did good”

Caitlin Humble — Lifecycle Marketing Manager

“Has to be setting up a lifecycle marketing program in a previous role. I led a number of initiatives which led to a 650% increase in our monthly acquisition and saved the business $25k in licensing costs. I was selected as one of six of my team to present at the end of the financial year for a chance to be sent to a conference held each year for top performers (also a low point if like me, you don’t particularly enjoy public speaking!).

While I’m certainly proud of the work my previous team and I accomplished, I’ve only been at Clipchamp for a few months and I’m sure the proudest moment of my career is still to come!”
