You may have heard the tragic story that, four months ago, hit all the major headlines across the country. This story was, of course, that of the 14 year old girl, who choked to death on an apple that she was deathly allergic to.

A brief summary for those who have not been reading, listening to, or watching the news might go like this; Mr Matthew and Celia Whyte had a beautiful daughter who they loved very much. She was born in summer, but in her heart was a winter child. They nicknamed their daughter Snow, because of her love for it. They doted on her completely and utterly, giving her anything a child could want. Except apples.

The story goes that Mr Matthew Whyte had a severe allergy to apples, and so for all fourteen of little Snow’s life, there were never any apples in the house. Snow herself was always told by her parents not to eat them, as there was a 50% chance of her inheriting the allergy. She abided by this rule for fourteen long years, until four months ago.

On November 16th 2016, Snow Whyte was at a friend’s birthday party, when she was given a slice of apple pie by a parent. Upon informing the parent there was a chance she was severely allergic, she was told that she’d never know unless she tried, and “No one is that badly allergic to apples”. Snow had not witnessed her father’s allergies flaring up, so believed the parent, and took one bite before quickly going into anaphylactic shock.

Snow was then rushed to hospital, where she ended up in a coma, and was put on life support, and there she remained for the next four months. Not dead, but not alive.

And there the story ended.

Except in a strange turn of events, little Snow has woken up today.

Mr and Mrs Whyte made the difficult decision to turn off the life support and have their only daughter declared dead. As they were saying their goodbyes, one of the nurses, who had been looking after Snow for the last four months, came in to comfort Mr and Mrs Whyte. As she walked over to the couple, she tripped over the bed, knocking Snow Whyte to the floor. Snow Whyte then stood up, and climbed back into bed!

The fall to the floor had, in some miraculous, medical defying way, knocked her back to life!

All that little Snow had to say on the matter was; “I could hear mum and dad saying it was time to switch the machines off, and say goodbye. I knew they’d be really sad, but I couldn’t work out how to open my eyes. Then suddenly I fell on the floor, and I just got up.”
