ar-ti-fi-cial: made or produced by human beings rather than occurring naturally, especially as a copy of something natural

CLIPr’s latest artificial intelligence patent — awarded June 7 — just landed in our inbox, and it got us thinking:

AI seems to be magic — at least in popular culture.

Science fiction teems with sagas of sentient robots, evil machines, entire systems thinking and acting autonomously like quirky, intuitive human beings.

This leads humanity to believe we’re just one algorithm away from retiring to leisurely life in orbit while ‘bots handle the messy business of thinking for us. Or maybe we’re just one calculation away from Skynet.

At CLIPr, though, we want to keep you grounded in reality: Like all algorithms — from social bots pushing familiar ideas into your feed to ad trackers selling you stuff you just bought — CLIPr’s AI was built by humans.

And unlike other AI companies, we acknowledge that CLIPr’s AI is not 100% infallibly brilliant and accurate — let alone sentient. Shocking, right?

The truth is, like all algorithms, CLIPr’s AI is still learning — and growing smarter about how it pulls topics with unique meaning and value out of hours of your video.

Our human data scientists designed our AI to continue learning, based on user input — and that’s why it’s called “artificial intelligence.”

This month, the USPTO awarded CLIPr our third patent (out of 7 in the pipeline), for our trainer and editing systems.

Our indexing team uses the trainer to fine-tune CLIPr’s “brain” for better accuracy.

And you can use the editing system to adjust CLIPr’s AI output for videos you upload by updating things like uncommon spellings, misunderstood phrases, or mispronunciations.

CLIPr’s AI is already an evolutionary tool, transforming the way the world works with video.

But it’s humans —continually upgrading our artificial intelligence — who are making CLIPr smarter and more impactful every day. If you haven’t tried out CLIPr yet, get a free account here.
