Our aim is to open up the discussion of sex, sexuality, gender, and equality. We are bombarded daily with sexual imagery and cultural expectations, all of which can leave us with an unhealthy, not to mention inaccurate, view of sex.

Clit Theory aims to bring openness and honesty to the subject, providing its readers with stories that promote self-acceptance and wellbeing while challenging them to consume media with a more critical eye.

We are looking for:

  • narrative non-fiction, such as personal experiences
  • discussions of representations of sex, sexuality, and gender in popular culture
  • Mixed media explorations as well as written pieces

How to Submit

If you would like to contribute to Clit Theory, you need to be a Medium member. Please complete our request form and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

The form includes a request for a writing sample published/available online for the editorial team’s review.

Accessibility

Content published on Clit Theory will be ‘locked’. Locked stories are reviewed by Medium’s curators for broader distribution, which helps our pieces find new audiences.

Users with free accounts are given a limited number of locked articles each month, so they are available to all to read. However, the bulk of views will come from paying subscribers, allowing our writers to receive compensation through Medium’s Partner Program.

Terms and conditions

Please make sure you are fully acquainted with Medium’s content guidelines before submitting your work.

Anything published on Clit Theory must be previously unpublished.

Clit Theory retains exclusive publication rights of anything published on our publication. Authors do retain the copyright of their work, however, and may ask us to take the piece down at any time. We reserve the right to end your contributor status if you regularly ask for pieces to be taken down or break the rules of our publication or Medium.

We reserve the right to have final say over the content that is published on Clit Theory. You will be consulted throughout the editorial process and have the right to pull your content before publication if you are not happy with the final product.
