We believe in simplifying your life. We want to help you spend less time deciding what to wear, and more time on what’s important to you. — Closet Minimal

Write about your go-to outfit, capsule closet, or personal uniform, and get published on Closet Minimal.

Minimalists and Minimalism

If you already consider yourself a minimalist, then don’t worry about fitting into someone else’s description.

If you aspire to be a minimalist but feel like you don’t qualify yet, don’t worry, you’re a minimalist to us.

If you’ve never heard of the term, here’s a summary by the authors of the book Everything That Remains:

“Minimalism is a lifestyle that helps people question what things add value to their lives. By clearing the clutter from life’s path, we can all make room for the most important aspects of life: health, relationships, passion, growth, and contribution. “— Joshua Fields Millburn & Ryan Nicodemus

Why You Should Write About Your Go-To Outfit

If you have a minimal closet, then your story can inspire others to give it a try. A minimal closet might mean a personal uniform, where you wear (basically) the same thing everyday. Or it might mean a curated capsule closet where a small set of items work together to create different looks. Or it might be another approach all together — in which case, please write about it!

If you’re on the path to a minimal closet, writing about your current go-to outfit will help you understand what’s important to you. Taking the time to reflect will move you forward through the next steps to clean out your closet and reclaim your time to focus on what’s important.

Why We Care

At Closet Minimal, we want to know about your go-to outfit for a typical day. The one where you feel comfortable and confident, and you can get into your groove doing what you want to do. This will help us design the best possible clothes for you and others to incorporate into your minimal closet.

We would love to talk with you about your go-to outfit. We can schedule a 30 minute Google Hangout. Fill out this form to request an interview. We can even help you write your article based on our conversation.

How to Write Your Article

1 / Medium Account Required

You’ll need a Medium account to write an article on Medium. If you don’t have an account, click the “Get Started” button that should be on the top right of the page.

Note: If you want to cross-publish on your own blog and on Closet Minimal, please follow the Medium best practices for SEO and duplicate content.

2 / Copy a Template

We made a question and answer style template to make it easier for you to get started. We have three variations of the template, worded for clarity depending on how you define your closet.

Paste the template into your own new story on Medium.

3 / Write and Add Photos

Follow the question and answer style to write your post, and add high quality images of you in your outfit. You may need to ask a friend who knows their way around a camera to do a photo shoot with you. Make it fun! And more importantly, make it you. We collected some photos here for inspiration.

Another way to get photos for your article is to start taking photos of your go-to outfit every time you wear it. A way to get variety is to take a selfie shot every time you arrive at a new location.

You can also use tools like Pablo (from Buffer) to make eye catching callouts for key messages. All the image call-outs on this article were made with Pablo!

4 / Tag and Publish

Before you publish, add “Minimalism” and one of the following tags so your story will appear correctly on Closet Minimal:

  • “Personal Uniform”
  • “Capsule Closet”
  • “Go-To Outfit”

After you publish your article then you can submit it to appear in Closet Minimal.

5 / Submit Your Article

Comment below with a link to your article. We’ll review your submission and get in touch!
