  • AD Connector, part of AWS Directory Service, is now available in the US East (Ohio), US West (N. California), Asia Pacific (Mumbai), Asia Pacific (Seoul), and Canada (Central) regions [2].

2. AWS Lambda news

  • AWS Lambda enables functions that can run up to 15 minutes [3]. ⏰

Until now, traffic over AWS Direct Connect was limited to 1,500 MTU. Jumbo Frames allow more than 1,500 bytes (up to 9,001 bytes) of data by increasing the payload size per packet and thus lowering the packet overhead.

6. Resource Groups Tagging API supports additional AWS services [10]

Users can now use the Resource Groups Tagging API to centrally manage tags and search resources for 6 additional AWS Services: Amazon Kinesis Data Firehose, AWS Secrets Manager, AWS Certificate Manager Private CA, AWS IoT Analytics, Amazon Aurora, and AWS Service Catalog.

7. Amazon Athena adds support for Creating Tables using the results of a Select query (CTAS) [11]

8. AWS PrivateLink and Network Load Balancer now support Inter-Region VPC Peering [12, 13]

MS Azure

  1. Azure SQL Data Warehouse Compute Optimized Gen2 tier is now generally available for government customers in the US Gov Arizona and US Gov Texas regions [14]

Google Cloud Platform

  1. Asset inventory is now available in beta [15]

Asset inventory allows users to get an org-wide snapshot of their inventory for a wide variety of GCP resources and policies with a single API call. The snapshot can then be used by automation tools for monitoring or policy enforcement, or be archived for compliance auditing.

2. Cloud Storage news [16]

  • New dual-regional option available in beta.
  • Nearline and Coldline data is available in multi-regional locations.

3. New important features for two of cloud-native database offerings: Cloud Spanner and Cloud Bigtable [17]

Cloud Spanner’s API now supports INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE SQL statements.

Key Visualizer is now generally available in Cloud Bigtable. Key Visualizer allows users to see key access patterns in heatmap format.

4. Simplified identity and access management for more businesses [18]

5. Simplified cloud networking for enterprises: announcing Cloud NAT and more [19]
