AWS

  1. Regions news
  • Amazon EC2 R5 instances are available in the Asia Pacific (Singapore) and Europe (Paris) AWS regions [1].

2. Amazon ECS-optimized Amazon Linux 2 AMI now available [2]

3. Amazon ECS CLI now supports service discovery [3]

4. Amazon Connect now supports service-linked roles [4]

A service-linked role is a new type of IAM role that allows to easily delegate permissions to AWS services. These service-linked roles are predefined by Amazon Connect and include all the permissions that the service requires to use other AWS services.

5. Amazon EMR, Amazon Athena, and AWS Glue now support resource-based policies and resource-level permissions for the AWS Glue Data Catalog [5, 6, 7]

MS Azure

  1. Azure Digital Twins is in public preview [8]

Azure Digital Twins is a new platform for comprehensive digital models and spatially aware solutions that can be applied to any physical environment.

Google Cloud Platform

  1. Go 1.11 is now available on App Engine [9] 🎉
  2. Fully managed Cloud NAT service is now available in beta [10]
  3. Resource-level IAM and IAM conditions are now available [11]

Resource-level IAM allows setting IAM policies on individual resources like VM instances and disks. IAM conditions allow granting access based on meeting pre-defined conditions, such as resource name prefix, raw request attributes (IP, device, etc.), or a specific time frame.
