Downgrading A Ubiquiti UDM Pro Firmware Causes Credentials to Fail

Is this what happened to my device in the past when I could no longer log in?

A while back I had an issue with my wifi so I went to log into my UDM Pro (the older device I was testing in my older blog posts, not the most recent Ubiquiti blog posts.

I’m doing some different types of tests with the newer model I got just to see what happens. One thing I tested was a factory reset. I had recently updated to 4.1.13.

However, after the factory reset, my device was still running 4.1.13. Why didn’t it reset to the version that shipped on my device? Not sure.

I wanted to get my device back to 4.0.21 to run a test. My plan had been to perform a factory reset, then reinstall 4.0.21 and then install 4.1.13.

However, when I installed 4.0.21, first of all it took a very, very long time. I wasn’t sure this would really work anyway due to incompatibility issues. A backwards install doesn’t always work. And…
