CloudByte released a Community Edition of ElastiStor a couple of months ago. Thanks for your overwhelming response and support.

Since then, we have had a lot of queries thrown at us. Below are a few of them:

  • How does the Community Edition differ from the Enterprise Edition?
  • Which feature of Enterprise Edition will I miss in the Community Edition?
  • How do I distinguish between Community Edition and Enterprise Edition from ElastiCenter?
  • Will I get support for Community Edition?
  • Is there any limit in Community Edition with regards to storage space available?
  • How is licensing enforced with these editions?
  • Can I upgrade from the Community Edition to Enterprise Edition?

This blog answers all your queries.

How does the Community Edition differ from the Enterprise Edition?
Features in both Community Edition and Enterprise Editions are the same.

Which feature of Enterprise Edition will I miss in the Community Edition?
Nothing. However, all the new product updates and releases are made available to Enterprise Edition users first, and then to the Community Edition users.

How do I distinguish between Community Edition and Enterprise Edition from ElastiCenter?
ElastiCenter uses different color schemes for the two editions. That difference is visible in the log in screen and the top portion of the page which houses the notification menu.
