There is an empty section in our daily email report that we knew was ripe for content for our users. We initially thought we can make this section entertaining by rotating a few weather related dad jokes and puns:

How do Meteorologist say Hi? With a heat wave

What did the sunshine say to the fog? You won’t be mist!

The weather forecast was for freezing rain, and sure enough it was an ice day.

I guess the jokes got too old and stale for our customers…

“The “How do meteorologists say Hi? With a heat wave” is cute a first but becomes unnecessary after a while….” — Actual Feedback from a Customer

We take feedback seriously so that meant back to the drawing board to improve this space.

One of our core values as a team is helping others and being a resource for our customers. This could mean helping our customers with questions on setting up their tags, scaling their cloud operations, advice on the best pizza place in Chicago (too many to name!), or sharing blog posts that we found valuable. CloudForecast would not be what it is today without the occasional Hacker News posts we stumble upon or google search.

We pushed out a small new feature within our daily reports called “Article of the Day” that matches what we value. This is a great medium for us to share blog posts that we found interesting and helpful. Our first Article of the Day shared to our customers today is written by Ciro S. Costa on ops.tips: “A Practical Look at Basic AWS Networking with Terraform”. Check it out when you get a free minute!

If you have feedback OR if you are a content creator that wants to share their posts, feel free to reach out!
