Cloud Computing Weekly Digest: June 10, 2016

The big news in the cloud this week comes from Amazon’s newest customer: the Palo Alto-based compression company, Pied Piper. Yes, Pied Piper may only exist in the fictional world of HBO’s Silicon Valley, but it too decided to go with Amazon Web Services (AWS) over the competitive alternatives. This means AWS is not only dominating in the real world, but is also now the cloud market leader in the fictional world as well. Gilfoyle’s last words to his servers were: “You served me well old friend. But we’re transferring to AWS now. I’m afraid you can’t come.” It’s a tough loss for the #3 cloud provider, Hooli.
