Cloud Computing Weekly Digest: June 24, 2016
by Joe Kinsella

The big news this week comes out of London, where UK citizens voted to leave the European Union. It’s hard to say how this vote will impact the markets, but I do know the cloud has survived several similar tumultuous exits. For example, in 2015 there was the Hpexit, when HP decided to throw in the towel on its public cloud. Then of course in 2014 there was the Rexit, when Rackspace decided it could no longer compete and adopted a Barney strategy (“I love you, you love me, we’re a great big happy family!”). And we can’t forget the ongoing Dexit, in which we get to watch Dell rapidly shedding its unprofitable bits in an attempt to win the love of EMC. So everyone just relax, take a deep breath, and launch one of those AWS X1 instances for a couple hours to make everything right with the world. I like to think there’s a silver lining in all the turmoil: at least there will be one less EU country to sue US tech companies when we become successful.
So please don’t head for the Brexit, we’re just getting started with our week in review.
