Cloud Computing Weekly Digest: May 20, 2016

In my continuing quest to learn the fate of Pied Piper’s founder, Richard Hendricks, I’ve been catching up lately on back episodes of HBO’s Silicon Valley. One of my favorite scenes from season 2 is when the team learned their cloud contracts were rejected due to pressure from Hooli. When Gilfoyle suggests they build their own servers, Jared responds with: “Gilfoyle, servers are essentially a utility. I mean you wouldn’t dig your own well for water or build a generator for power.” Yes, even in a fictional world, everyone knows the only reason not to go into the cloud is if you are prevented from using it by an evil monopoly. Let’s get started with our week in review.
