How did the struggle get real?

Unfortunately, not every business will survive this crisis, and as a result, many people might suffer from (at least temporary) unemployment. One of the consequences of the major pandemic was less and less money to be spent per household.

Prioritization started taking place and the way money was spent shifted a lot, different choice of products, different types of goods, different spending behavior in general.

Back to basics.

Less luxury, less holiday trips. The remaining standard shopping items — for those consumers that want to avoid the risk of touching an infected shopping cart wherever possible — there were many of them — had an option to be bought online.

Fast delivery became a standard. At least from the demand side, where customers demanded quick delivery, be it for online services or physical goods, yet not all suppliers were able to fulfill this need.

All of the surviving/winning businesses started to compete for a limited amount of customers.

This number of available customers rapidly started to grow, even faster than before, however, the majority is still turning to amazon for their needs.

How to thrive?

This means, the competition was/is big and international! So, in order to grab a bigger piece of the cake, the businesses that we saw thriving, started implementing the following steps:

  1. Social viral campaigns
  2. Speed optimization 5 levels up
  3. User experience became the most vital core part of online businesses
  4. Workforce culture shift
  5. Cloud based data and asset management

Search engines usually award the top rankings in search results to the best performing websites, where the highest likelihood of a positive user experience can be expected.

Those search result positioning decisions are made on the basis of relevance, speed, quality, etc.

The images on websites are the things that can make all the difference!

You need your visuals in order to deliver strong user experience so don’t fall for the trap of neglecting the visual aspect of your business because the optimization is hard and time-consuming.

This is probably not overly surprising to you, Mister Decision-maker. That‘s why your team is spending countless hours rendering countless numbers of differently sized versions for each of your digital assets.

It‘s a painful and annoying task, and such a waste of productive time!
