Cybersecurity Careers and Jobs for 2024

I’ve recently had the chance to talk about Diversity & Inclusion & the cyber security field to a select group of newcomers to the industry.

During my preparation I sat down to document common roles I see at customers and at the industry. Here they are 👇

The Craft Domains

The Cyber security space offers a range of roles from varying backgrounds and with differing focus — I split these roles into different “Craft Domains”, cause they generally align to different skillsets.

This is why it’s a growing field with a lot of demand, regardless of your current skillset. There’s always a way to make the most out of your path of life. (I’ve spoken about this before, and how to Pivot to Infosec).

In general though, I can think of the following domains:

• Management
• Industry (general)
• Design
• Operational
• Development

(There’s plenty more, I’m sure — which ones did I forget?? Comment here).

You can — and should — align your strengths to the domain that you want to work on.

Then you need to understand the opportunities underneath them…
