hyflex learning model

· Hybrid flexible learning:

Hybrid flexible learning is a blended method that refers to a teaching strategy that includes the structure which allows a student to either attend on-site or online classes. The students have the opportunity to change their mode of learning according to the preference or need of time.

The goal of hyflex learning is to let every student access equivalent benefits of each mode of delivery, either synchronous or asynchronous.
Synchronous model provides a higher level of interaction, access to body language, and conversational engagement between the teacher and student on the contrary asynchronous model allows a learner to pace themselves and reflect more. Giving the option to choose allows students to accommodate the changing life needs.

· Teaching strategies and learning activities:

For the successful delivery of hyflex learning model, institutes need to think through both learner’s experience and experimental mode of teaching, and take accountability for providence of adequate expertise and support to not just students, but to faculty and parents as well. All of them will need additional support, encouragement and care to make it successful online

The main strategies and activities that can be adapted include:

· Interaction and content focus, as all of the learning outcomes depends in some way by the presentation of information to student.

· Reflection and acknowledgment of position of each student.

· Critical thinking and problem solving.

· Higher level of productivity.

· Interactivity among the students.

· Assigning the tasks with better and higher learning outcomes.

· Understanding the hyflex teaching through every perspective:

In a times like this where social distancing and isolating are the factors that can be tie-breaker if ignored, adaption of hyflex learning is high need of time.

For students, hyflex model holds the potential to maximize the opportunity to participate face to face learning under conditions of social distancing as there is a vast number of students who face major issues attending the sessions online due to limited resources. The conceptual flexibility also allows the students to continue their academics that may not be able to attend on campus at all that might be the case of many international students.

For teachers, the HyFlex model has the potential to resume face-to-face teaching, despite uncertainties about the number of students that campus classrooms can safely accommodate.

Moreover, the parents who are concerned about the fortune they have invested in their child’s education can be minimized by the hyflex model.
