My First Visit to 2023 Ambassador Global Summit
I was officially nominated as an AWS Ambassador earlier this year and I had the privilege of attending the 2023 Ambassador Summit this September. I’d like to introduce this incredible event and share my personal experience.
AWS Ambassador Global Summit
AWS Ambassador Global Summit is an invite-only, in-person event to discuss technical strategy with AWS service leaders and connect with AWS Ambassadors from all around the world.
This year, the event took place in Seattle from September 19th to September 20th. The agenda covered a wide range of topics such as Gen AI, Securtity and Data etc.
Informative Sessions
The main program of the event was informative sessions and they covered a variety of topics such as Gen AI, Security. When it comes to AI, nearly every session highlighted the power of AI and gave me a sneak peek into AWS’ strong commitment to this field.
I cannot describe detailed content of each session due to NDA yet here I share brief summary of a few sessions.
- Generative AI:
Generative AI becomes a technology that can be widely used and it also brings significant changes. Trend of Generative AI has following aspects — Automation & Efficiency, Personalization.
AWS showcased AI-driven services like CodeWhisperer, which offers AI-based code suggestions to boost code development efficiency, and BedRock, a tool for creating foundation models with various model options. BedRock can also integrate with AWS native security services to bolster security and AWS DB services for storing vector data.
2. Data
During a keynote address by Adam Selipsky, AWS CEO, he emphasized the vision of Zero ETL. Zero ETL will be expanded to facilitate data integration between AWS services. starting with Aurora — Redshift integration feature.
Governance is one of the most import pillar when it comes to data strategy for business. Data Zone for better data management is soon to be GA and Data Lake related feature is more to come.
Last but not the least, Generative AI will also play a role in ETL pipelines and queries.
3. Security
Security Lake is now generally available and is currently in the process of developing additional data sources. It streamlines the process of subscribing to data sources across multiple regions and transforming data to OSCF format.
Security Hub centralizes security alert and automates security check. In Security Hub, security issues are tracked as findings and this findings can also be a source of Security Lake.
Exiting Programs
One of the highlights outside of the sessions was a visit to Amazon Spheres, an iconic part of the Amazon campus in Seattle known for its unique design. It was such a pleasure to experience one of the Amazonians’s famous campus.
The event also featured various networking sessions, including an awards dinner and networking events. It was truly inspiring to see tech-savvy and passionate Ambassadors recognized as top performers in their respective regions during the awards dinner.
The best part of the Ambassador Global Summit was the motivation it provided. As a newcomer Ambassador and junior engineer, I gained valuable insights into the passion for technology and the never-stop-learning attitude from fellow Ambassadors and AWS leaders.
