Building the Next Generation of Creator Communities

Six months ago, we set out on a path that few have walked before. We proposed a new model for Clout.art, where the involvement of a community would become much more significant than before. An ecosystem where community roles would go beyond social status alone and become an elemental part of how we work with creators.

The Clout.art Patrons were the first collection of its kind. Owning a Patron NFT means that you can be part of a small group of people who actively help to find the most interesting creators online and help them dip their toes into the web3 space. An incentives program was built around the model to reward Patrons and creators who join the platform.

We have come a long way since and have learned a lot in the process. However, our vision is still in finding the best way to bring creators into the web3 space and establish a stronger community of Patrons to help them on their way there.

Today, we are announcing a series of updates to our model.

Fairer incentives for Patrons

We have awarded over 1M HBAR to creators, patrons, and their apprentices as part of the model we proposed. However, this model had a fundamental flaw. If you managed to scout numerous creators, and none got featured, you or your creator would not be eligible to receive a microgrant.

This is changing now. We are giving equal opportunities to every Patron out there and rewarding creators they bring on board.

Both Patrons and creators receive a microgrant of 300 HBAR each for every successfully onboarded creator.

To be successfully onboarded, a creator needs to:

  • Have the creator application form filled out by their Patron
  • Have an account on Clout.art
  • Mint at least 5 NFTs from their social media posts
  • (optionally) Present their work in the next Forum

We are also introducing new eligibility criteria for creators. To be eligible, you need to have:

  • A creative/artistic or business profile on Instagram (no personal profiles)
  • Original art (no reproductions or copies of existing NFTs)
  • A minimum of 1,500 followers.

Note: We are limiting the number of creators each Patron can bring in a single Forum to a maximum of 5.

No more creator grants, but a dedicated collectors fund

By now, we have awarded every featured creator with a special microgrant.

From now on, the rewards for featured creators (and their Patrons) will be replaced by the participation of our Collectors Fund, which will directly buy NFTs from a featured collection for an amount ranging from 1,000 to 10,000 HBAR.

The final decision on how many and which NFTs are bought will be determined by a special council inside Clout.art or via a community vote. The minimum guaranteed bid for NFTs of all featured creators is 1,000 HBAR.

This change does not affect the additional indirect investment Clout.art is making in each creator through community campaigns, promotions, and advertising with each featured launch.

What’s next?

We see these updates to the model as a necessary step forward in the evolution of our product. Clout.art can only be successful if the community we are building plays its role in the most effective way.

We would like to hear from you about your thoughts on this new model and how you think we could further improve it. Join the discussion on our Discord or find us on Twitter!
