Second Annual PNC APIFest

On January 24–25th Clover helped sponsor the second annual PNC APIFest. Clover provided resources and devices for the event so participants could integrate Clover with PNC APIs. The 24-hour hackathon was hosted at PNC Headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA. Over 50 teams and hundreds of contestants competed to win top honors.

One of the top finalists used Clover hardware and services to create a white labeled loyalty and payment solution for PNC merchants. Customers are able to use their mobile wallets on Android and iOS for loyalty rewards and payments. Merchants then scan barcodes on customer’s phones directly from their Clover device, and customers can immediately see their updated balance on their mobile device. Clover customized receipts help provide a fully tailored solution for merchants.

We came across other teams using Clover to simplify merchant’s workflows. One team used Clover to manage cash flow and used real time transactions to make and request payments. Another team created a native Clover app to allow merchants to accept deliveries straight from their Clover device. Other teams were looking at how Clover can improve healthcare by making it easier to accept patient healthcare information.

We were impressed by the diverse set of merchant solutions presented. We would like to extend a special thank you to our host PNC. We hope to make it back to Pittsburgh soon.
