Last Sunday night, the executive board reported on events for the rest of the week, gave feedback on recent events, and processed funding requests. This was the final meeting of the 2014–15 board. After Spring Break, the new 2015–16 will take office.

ASCMC President Ben Tillotson ’15 reported that CMC students remaining on campus on Sunday, March 15th can take a chartered bus to and from the LA Marathon, where they can cheer for a team of their peers running for the Student Imperative. Originally proposed by President Chodosh, the Student Imperative has raised approximately $85 million out of the goal of $100 million since early 2014, Tillotson said. The Student Imperative will be used to provide more financial support for students and increase economic diversity, as well as to fund more student opportunities and research on campus.

Dormitory Affairs Chair Elaine Sohng ’17 announced that there would be no TNC or Saturday party this week. Sohng also reported that the Hookah Bar TNC last week was well-attended and went smoothly.

Student Life Chair Chloe Zagrodzky ’17 provided feedback on Ski-Beach Day, which took place on Saturday, March 7. Though the event was well-received, Zagrodzky noted that many people canceled after tickets and gear had already been ordered, and that the bus charter company was uncommunicative when the buses were late. The board then considered finding a dependable bus charter company for future ASCMC events.

Next, the board discussed funding requests for the remainder of the period before transferring to the new board. A funding request of $280 to pay for the online ballot service used during ASCMC elections last week was approved. President Pro-Tempore Michael Irvine ’16 announced that he would seek out less expensive options for future elections. Irvine stated that the reason for choosing the Election Buddy service they used is that it provides “more security” in the form of individualized URLs for ballot submissions and saves time by calculating runoff tallies for races with multiple candidates.

Finally, a group of ASCMC Fellows reported on a proposal to collect feedback data from students about event attendee satisfaction. The Fellows suggested improvements to data collection methods, including tabling outside Collins dining hall and utilizing social media, such as Facebook event pages. The executive board considered future methods of gathering responses for events, such as including a feedback form on party inform emails. Another consideration for next year’s board, voiced by Sohng, would be to survey the student body on issues of campus climate surrounding race and diversity, and potentially incentivizing students to respond by, for example, making a campus climate survey response a prerequisite for Room Draw.
