Located in the Claremont Village just past 21 Choices in the Packing House, Augie’s Coffee House is a cozy coffee shop offering an assortment of drinks and pastries. The café is an ideal place for studying as it offers a long tables with bright yellow chairs as well as counter space with bar stools. The baristas are friendly, skilled in creating beautiful coffee art, and happy to provide advice if you can’t decide what will meet your craving.

With other locations in Redlands and Riverside, the Claremont Augie’s opened in December. The coffee shop provides punch cards that offer a free drip coffee after purchasing ten drinks. Order the sweet and satisfying Honey Cinnamon Latte or the simple Cold Brew. The seasonal special, a Lavender Vanilla Latte, is also worth a try. Not a coffee person? The café also offers a wide selection of teas and a hot or iced chai latte.

Augie’s notably offers non-dairy options including soy and almond milk. However, they unfortunately charge .75 cents extra for almond milk, making a 16 oz. latte come in at about $5. Also, customers must make a special request if they wish to add milk other than half and half to their hot or iced coffee.

Although Augie’s can get busy in the afternoon, many customers work on laptops, doodle in notebooks or read from textbooks. The music can feel a little loud at times but the playlists are a combination of slow indie tunes and fun throwbacks. The café is a great space to write an essay or get reading done.

If you get hungry during your time at Augie’s, explore the pastry case, complete with croissants and other sweet treats. The café also shares a space with Á La Minute, a handcrafted ice cream shop serving affogatos (a scoop of vanilla ice cream topped with a shot of espresso) in addition to eclectic flavors such as strawberry balsamic and chocolate lavender.
