19th May 2020- even the merest whisper of this date would have been enough to cause panic sweats in even the bravest of students, for this was the day of the 2020 IGCSE results. Further increasing the fear in the hearts of the students was the uncertainty in the air- with the threat of the Coronavirus pandemic looming large, the students weren’t even sure of whether they would receive their results at all. In a show of true efficiency and determination, however, the results were declared on the exact date that they were supposed to, and boy were they marvellous! The 31 A*s and the 65 As on their reports are clear indicators of the knowledge the students possess and the hard work that they put in. Anahita Singh, with a percentage of 95.60% (7A*s and 3As), emerged as the Topper of the 2020 batch, while Divyansh Tripathi (90.4%) and Daksh Kumar Singh (90.4%) bagged the second position, followed closely by Saumya Upadhyay (89.6%). The List of Subject Toppers is given below:

  • Biology- Anahita Singh
  • Business Studies- Sneha Singh
  • Chemistry- Divyansh Tripathi
  • Computer- Anahita Singh
  • Economics- Anahita Singh
  • English as a Second Language(ESL)- Krishna Mehrotra, Varad Srivastava

Another feather in the cap of Cambridge Section is the number of International Certification in Education (ICE) awardees in the 2020 batch. An exclusive certificate awarded by the University of Cambridge itself, an ICE certificate demonstrates the students’ expertise in a wide range of subject, for its very requirements state that students must pick at least 7 subjects (at least one from each group, along with at least two languages.) The ICE groups are as follows:

Group 1 — Languages

Group 2 — Humanities

Group 3 — Sciences

Group 4 — Mathematics

Group 5 — Creative and Vocational

Students who qualify for ICE are placed in one of these three categories:

Distinction — Grade A or better in five subjects and grade C or better in two subjects.

Merit — Grade C or better in five subjects and Grade F or better in two subjects.

Pass — Grade G or better in seven subjects.

A total of 10 students qualified for the Distinction category, while another 6 qualified for the Merit category. The names of these students are also given below:

ICE Distinction:

  • Aastha Pathan
  • Anahita Singh
  • Arunima Shankar
  • Daksh Kumar Singh
  • Divyansh Tripathi
  • Kavya Nigam
  • Saumya Upadhyay

  • Yuvraj Yadav

ICE MERIT:

  • Astitva Shukla
  • Krishna Mehrotra
  • Mayank Singh
  • Ojal Agarwal
  • Vaibhavi Mittal

Facing two gruelling weeks of continuous Papers (with as many as 3 different subjects all falling on the same day), these students have definitely proven that true knowledge and grit can never bow before a challenge, no matter how big it may be. The section congratulates the students for their stellar scores, and wishes them all the best for all their future endeavours!
