Top 5 Times a Hot Guy Played a Cartoonist
(GHOST WRITTEN ABOUT 80% BY KGROS (all kgros content is italicized)
Sometimes you’re watching a T.V. show or movie and one of the main characters will say “I’m a cartoonist” and flip their sketchbook of weird comic art towards the screen and it’s kind of fun, especially if they’re kind of hot. Here’s a list of the most memorable times that happened (that we could think of off the top of our heads)

Jake Gyllenhaal in Zodiac (2007)

He’s NOT a writer, He’s a CARTOONIST!!!

Adam Brody in Season Two of the O.C. (2004–2005)

Welcome to the O.C., Bitch. The pinnacle of mid-2000s TV. We still have yet to see a TV drama as sweet in the years that have come to pass (excluding Degrassi, which will always be #1 in our soft Canadian hearts). Season one, we meet and fall in love with Ryan, Marissa, Summer, and Seth (honourable mention for Best TV Hot Dad: Mr. Sandy Cohen). Smash cut to Season Two. There is an inexplicable subplot where Seth Cohen, at 16? 17?, manages to get an entire graphic novel published by an in-universe equivalent to Image Comics. Literally no one cares. His parents don’t even show up to the book launch. As suddenly as it began, the narrative arc is over, cast aside, and barely mentioned again for the rest of the show.

Ben Feldman in The Perfect Man, starring Hilary Duff (2005)

Ok. Alright. You got me. I would fucking DIE for Hilary Duff. There are three things I remember about this movie.
- This movie is about her catfishing her mom.
- The titular Perfect Man is Mr. Big from Sex and the City.
- The teenaged love interest for sweet HD is a cartoonist. In fact, the romantic climax of the film revolves around a series of drawings that he does of Hilary Duff. If there’s one thing I can say is absolutely true about cartoonists, if they’re horny for ya, they’ll draw you something. I’m not about to rewatch this movie to double check, but I’m certain there’s at least one scene where he pencils over an already perfectly inked page.

Zac Efron in That Awkward Moment (2014)

Of all the Hot Cartoonist Movies, this is the one I would recommend skipping. It’s about 3 friends who don’t believe any of them deserve to be in healthy happy relationships. Without a hint of self-awareness they implement several “relationship rules” that are Toxic Masculinity(tm) incarnate & wind up being miserable for the entire film. Much like The Perfect Man, this film supports my thesis statement that “if a cartoonist is horny for ya, they’ll draw you something.” Zefron’s character draws his casual love interest an entire comic strip. That’s a lot of effort for a one night stand.

Also Zac Efron in Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates (2016)

Gosh. Oh. Gosh. Who could have predicted that sweet baby Zac would have been in more than one terrible movie? (Apologies to Mr. Zefron if he reads this, I wish you would do more musicals).
I. Don’t. Remember. The. Plot. Of. This. Movie. But I’m pretty sure it’s all in the title. This was a flaming dumpster of a film. But you know me. I’m a fun bisexual. I’ll watch anything if it’s got lovably obtuse Zefron in it.
What I do remember is that over the course of the film, Zac’s character decides that he is going to LIVE his TRUTH and CHASE his DREAMS and DRAW HIS DREAM GRAPHIC NOVEL ABOUT SENTIENT BOttLES of BOOZE.
My desperate dream is that after doing TWO feature length films where he stars as a Hot Cartoonist, Zefron will be typecast in this roll & we will get more of this Premium Content that is specifically designed to cater to MY interests.

(As you probably noticed, every time there’s a hot cartoonist character, it’s always a straight white guy smh :-/ :-\
They also all look almost exactly the same in that brunette kind of way so I’m either gonna need some diversity in future hot cartoonist movies, or some major committment to just getting Zefron to play EVERY SINGLE hot cartoonist role tia)
